Meet Dr. Ben Hawkins

Ben Hawkins, DMD

Dentistry is a very fun and rewarding profession. The opportunity to solve patients’ healthcare problems and establishing personal relationships with them is very rewarding. It is fun being in a dental practice that has been around for more than 30 years, because it allows me to see patients that I know and have been important in my life, whether it be my kindergarten teacher or former pediatrician!

Education/Experience

Before I became a dentist, I earned my BA, graduating Magna cum Laude from the University of Georgia. I then attained my DMD from the Medical College of Georgia, and was president of the American Student Dental Association MCG chapter.

Al a part of my continuing education, I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Hinman Dental Society, American Dental Association and Georgia Dental Association. I regularly attend continuing education meetings not only to maintain the highest standard of patient care possible, but also because of the enjoyment I receive from learning new and better techniques for solving patient’s dental problems. 

In the Practice

I love what I do not only because I enjoy performing the dental procedures themselves, but also because of the satisfaction that comes from solving a patient’s problem and exceeding their expectations.

To be able to come to the office each day and do something that I love and believe in is an incredible feeling. I have been blessed to be part of the lives of so many wonderful patients and parents. It has been an honor to serve our community with a commitment to excellence and outstanding care, and I look forward to continuing this commitment in the coming years!

Family and Community

I have lived in Gainesville all my life, and am proud to serve the people of my hometown. My lovely wife, Suzie, and I have a daughter named Anne, a son named Benny, and our third child is due in August. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy playing with the kids, golfing, working in the yard, fishing, and watching Georgia football games.

I am also active in our community, and am a member of the following local organizations:

• St. Michael Catholic Church, and chairman of the financial council
• Hall County and Northeast Georgia Hospital Authority Board
• Northeast Georgia Health Systems QPIC board
• Gainesville Friends of the Parks board (also past president)
• 9th District Health Services Advisory Committee
• Gainesville Family TIES board
• Gainesville Jaycees (also past director)
• Gainesville Kiwanis
